RESIN TRACKING DAMAGE_edited.jpg

With over 18 years of resin bound and bonded experience we have seen just about everything.

We have seen some amazing installations carried out by highly skilled contractors. Some not so great ones carried out by unskilled contractors. Some DIY projects that have gone wrong and some drives that have been poorly maintained or misused.

This experience has helped us to develop the most advanced repair and rejuvenation techniques. We undertake domestic and commercial reinstatement works.

Moss build up

If you have a resin surface that is north facing and neglect basic maintenance you can end up with moss growing between the individual pieces of aggregate.

Left untreated, during the winter the water in the moss will freeze and expand. Because water cannot be compressed this could result in the pieces of aggregate being separated, breaking up the surface. Fortunately this is a simple DIY repair in most cases.

Moisture damage

The cause of this is that moisture has reacted with the isocyanate hardener is the resin system.

There are no systems that are immune to this and its most likely to occur when night time temperatures are much lower than daytime ones.

This rarely happens, can be avoided and requires a professional repair.

Cracked resin driveway

cracked resin drive_edited.jpg

Cracks in resin bound paving are never caused by the resin bound system. If resin bound routinely cracked without an underlying cause resin bound wouldn't exist.

Cracks are always caused by movement in the substrate. There are many reasons this can happen but the good news is cracks are relatively easy to repair. Cracks should be repaired by a professional.

UV - Non UV resin on the same project

UV and Non UV resin repair.png

On this project the contractor has used UVR and Non UV resin on the same driveway.

This is down to inexperience through the whole team and as the project ages the dark area will go more amber in colour.

The only solution in this scenario is to resurface the area using matching resin and aggregate in all areas.

Dry steering tracking damage

One of the most common ways that resin drives get damaged is through dry steering or tracking damage.

This is caused when a driver turns their steering wheel whilst stationary.

Turning the steering wheel whilst stationary will have the same effect on asphalt and concrete. The solution is easy, simply make sure the car is moving before you start turning. As for the repair this will require a professional repair and a skilled repairer should be able to hide it pretty well.

Oil damage

Oil leaks are a common way in which a resin drive can be damaged.

With any spill it is advisable to clean it up promptly. When cleaning the oil off do not use harsh chemicals like bleach or any solvent

based cleaners as these can damage the surface. Always lightly pressure wash after cleaning. If the oil is engrained and you would like to get the area patch repaired, we have techniques that will minimise the visibility of the repair.
